I am a 58 year old cyclist commuting 35 km per day, 22 of which are on unlit country roads. This is the first time that I felt compelled to write to recommend a product. The IQ fly is such a dramatic improvement over previous models from B&M or any other dynamo light which I have ever used with my Schmidt dynohub, I truly feel that no cyclist need consider purchasing any other dynamo light.

The light is extremely bright and white and easily sufficient to pick out potholes on unlit roads at any speed. (I usually use a Topeak HID light to feel safe on my potholed country roads, I now feel happy if the big light has been left at home). The IQ fly has a 3 position head which enables the throw of the beam to be adjusted while cycling to compensate for speed.

The standlight alone appears to produce a beam brighter than previous B&M lights on full charge. This means that there is no sensation of flickering of the light, even at the slowest speeds, and I can safely cycle up a 17% hill at around 6 km/h with sufficient light to be safe. The sensor is just right to ensure the light comes on automatically when the ambient light is poor.

The only downside that I can find to this light is that when the capacitor is producing the light rather than the dynamo (extremely slow speeds, or after emerging from a tunnel) then the impulse interferes with my wireless cycle computer causing some extremely fast speeds to appear on the computer. Perhaps the manufacturers need to electrically screen the capacitor.

Overall this is a brilliant (sic) light which I recommend whole heartedly to any serious cyclist both to see and be seen. R.L., UK / 05.02.08

Thanks for your swift response. I have purchased the 174QDi and, having used it last night, I wanted to thank your company for producing such an excellent product. It greatly out performs my old Lumotec plus Halogen lamp and seems better to me than any of the rechargeable systems I have seen, even those of much higher wattage. Thanks once again for bringing a new level of performance to cycle lighting.

Thank you for supplying the Busch & Müller Lumotec IQ Fly front lamp so promptly. It has transformed my 4 mile journey home along the 2 and a bit mile section with no street lighting. The light has exceeded all my expectations!

It throws out a roughly rectangular light which extends from about 2 metres in front to about 20 metres ahead! I can now see the hedges at the side of the road and well ahead even at speed. More importantly, it is so bright that I can still see after a car has passed the other way, whereas previously it took my eyes 3-4 seconds to recover from the effect of the car headlamps.

The photograph on the Busch & Müller website understates the brightness of this lamp. It is definitely going to prevent further collisions with Cornish Hedges (stone wall) and keep me out of Minor Injuries!
